We are truly honored to host Nic Stone, Atlanta-native and author of the forthcoming YA novel Dear Martin, and Angie Thomas, author of the breakout YA novel The Hate U Give. These women have each written powerful stories exploring the struggles of young Black people in America in voices that are genuine, compelling, and unflinchingly honest. You do not want to miss a conversation between these two remarkable authors! This event is sponsored by the Authors Guild and American Booksellers Association.
Dear Martin, which comes out on October 17th, is an Indies Introduce selection. This is a program of the American Booksellers Association which highlights quality achievements by debut authors. It also received a starred review from the American Library Association’s Booklist.
The Hate U Give, the stunning debut novel from Angie Thomas, was released in February and has been recognized by The Atlantic on from the other side of the Atlantic and has received glowing reviews (here, here, and here, for example). The Hate U Give was recently longlisted for the National Book Award for Young People’s Literature.
