YA Book Swap Party!

Friday, September 29th – 4:30 p.m.

Attention teen book lovers! Join us for an after school party featuring some light SNACKS (yesss) and, of course, BOOKS! We will have a book swap portion, so please bring a book that you’ve read and loved to share with someone new. We will also have some galleys up for grabs and opportunity to learn about new YA titles. Stick around afterward for our event with YA authors Kerri Maniscalco (Hunting Prince Dracula) and Nicole Castroman (Blacksouls) at 7pm!

Kerri Maniscalco and Nicole Castroman Author Event!

Friday, September 29th – 7 p.m.

TWO YA authors, TWO books that are the second in their respective series, and the root of the word “second” is somehow TWO. English is weird. But this event is double the trouble and double the fun with Kerri Maniscalco and Atlanta-local Nicole Castroman! Maniscalco’s girl-powered, gritty, and creepy detective series continues with Hunting Prince Dracula and Castroman continues her bold and captivating retelling of the pirate Blackbeard’s backstory in Blacksouls. This event is free and open to the public! Attendees must purchase a copy of either book from us in order to earn a place in the signing line.

*PRO-TIP: Come to the shop at 4:30 for our YA Book Swap Party and then stick around for this author event!*

On The Same Page Writing Workshop

Saturday, September 30th – 2-4 p.m. — Decatur Coworks, 708 Church St, Decatur, GA 30030

Did you know that one of the characters in Bud, Not Buddy, is based on Christopher Paul Curtis’ jazz-musician grandfather? We’ll use inspiration from our own families in this interactive writing workshop for kids ages 8-11. Space is limited, so please email info@weareonthesamepage.org to sign up.

Katherine Applegate Author Event!

Saturday, September 30th – 6 p.m. — Decatur Library

Katherine Applegate, the award-winning author of The One and Only Ivan, Home of the Brave, and Crenshaw, returns to Decatur to promote her newest middle grade novel, Wishtree! The Decatur Library will host the presentation and signing. Wishtree tells the story of the oak tree Red and her motley band of animals. When an ugly message is scrawled into her bark, Red decides to break her own rules, speak to humans, and do her best to bring people together (and survive herself). In her usual style, Applegate’s newest work is simple and digestible for kids but steeped in an important message. Along with Georgia Center for the Book, we are thrilled to help her share this timely and necessary book!

This event, happening at Decatur Library (NOT at Little Shop of Stories), is free and open to the public. Attendees must purchase a copy of the book in order to earn a place in the signing line. Books will be available for purchase at the event itself!
