Bethan Woollvin Author and Illustrator Event!
Wednesday, October 24th – 5 pm
We are thrilled to welcome author and illustrator Bethan Woollvin all the way from England to celebrate the release of her newest picture book, Hansel & Gretel! Learn more about this adaptation below. We will have a story time and signing, and you’ll be sure to love this and ALL of Bethan’s fairy tales! This event is free and open to the public. Be sure to purchase a copy of Hansel and Gretel from us in order to earn a place in the signing line!
More about Hansel & Gretel:
In Hansel & Gretel, good witch Willow never used to worry about messy breadcrumb trails. Or entire portions of her gingerbread house being devoured. Or anyone fiddling with her spells and magic books and causing a ruckus. But Hansel and Gretel are two very naughty and very rude children, and their actions are trying Willow’s patience. A dark, humorous, and tasty twist ensues.
Bethan Woollvin plays her signature three-color palette and wry, irreverent sense of humor to perfect pitch in this fractured version of the classic tale. Woollvin is sure to have readers chatting about what it means to be a heroine or a villain, considering their sense of good and evil … and possibly rethinking that next bite of gingerbread.
Author / Awesomator Karma Wilson is Coming to Circle Time!
Thursday, October 25th – 11 am
Get ready for a VERY SPECIAL Circle Time! We are so excited that Karma Wilson, author of the adorable Bear picture book series, will be our special guest at Circle Time. Circle Time is our weekly story time geared towards our youngest readers, so we’ll sing songs, blow bubbles, and read books with Karma! Karma came to the Decatur Book Festival six years ago and we’ve been madly, secretly in love with her ever since.
As always, Circle Time is free and open to all. If you’d like for Karma to sign a book for you and your family, be sure to purchase her newest book, Bear Can’t Sleep from us, and she will host a signing after Circle Time! Learn more about her latest book below. We hope that you can join us!
Bear’s many animal friends try to help him get to sleep in time for winter hibernation in this companion story to Bear Snores On.
It’s winter, and deep in the forest, Bear should be fast asleep. But when his friends come by to check on him, they realize that Bear is still awake! They brew him hot tea and sing him lullabies, but nothing seems to work. Can Bear get to bed? Or will he be up all winter?
